Oé, Oé, Oé! España!

So when will Enrique Inglesias water ski au natural?

Man that was a long match! But I am happy for Spain. They left no doubt that they are the best team in the world right now. First the Euro Championship and now the World Cup. Fantastic.
I feel for the Oranjes though, they were so close and they are also really good -- defeated only in the final (in overtime!).
But in the end it just felt as if Spain's team played with more ease.
Spain has never won the World Cup before so that is kinda cool (even though Ghana winning would have taken the cake in that department).

New York's restaurants and bars were packed with people watching the final. John, the husband, I and some other friends watched the game first at L'Orange Bleue (which was mostly rooting for the Dutch), then Eight Mile Creek (also filled with Holland fans) for the second half and ended up watching overtime in front of the now unfortunately defunct Old St. Patrick Cathedral School (joining the Spanish fans). The last venue I liked the best. It felt the most authentic, with lots of people gathered around a TV.

The best part of the tournament was probably the bonding with John. John also grew up (albeit different places) with soccer being simply part of life and instinctively we have the same love and understanding of the game.

And how amazing is Paul?!
