Yum!

Thanks Alex & Alicia for the delicious Financier pastries. (I devoured them too fast to photograph, but they were pleasing to the palette and the eye).
And speaking of yum, Arielle started a food blog: www.mipastaessupasta.blogspot.com.

I ♥ Scandinavia

Mozart, the Reindeer & 'Axl', Kiruna, Sweden © Nina Buesing Corvallo

Now a bit further north: Scandinavia.

If you find yourself in Stockholm, I recommend seeing Bryan Graf's work at Galleri Jonas Kleerup - through April 24, 2011 May 1, 2011 . Find more info at: www.galleri-kleerup.se.

And Céline Clanet's wonderful work at The Apartment in Oslo - March 31, 2011 through April 16, 2011. Find out more at:
www.the-apartment-gallery.com.

BTW everyone said I would have to eat Blubber while in Northern Sweden. So not true. I even found a fantastic B&B that served organic & veggie dishes in the Arctic Circle: Aurora Retreat.

Madame

Speaking of Paris and French Culture: My last years in high school I had the most incredible (French) teacher: Madame Kummer. She had a beautiful mane of red hair and her appearance was impeccably stylish. You could not pull the wool over Madame's eyes - ever. But any attempt she parried with humor. We were an intimate class of six. This class was structured like a French class at the Lycee and so we read everything from Baudelaire to Ionesco. Madame Kummer had an incredible gift for teaching and always provoked us to think and pressed us to appreciate.
I did not savor chocolate the way one is supposed to until Madame Kummer spoke to us about chocolate. Merci pour tout, Madame Kummer.

Midnight in Paris (L'Air du Temps)

An early photograph by Moi ;) ; Mom & I, Paris, 1979 © Buesing

Seems like Paris is having a moment. Somehow Paris is on everyone's mind. Most people love the City of Light, but right now there is an additional buzz or perhaps a re-discovery of Paris in the air. Hopefully it will result in better search results on Google Images. Currently when you search 'Paris' , the first search results will include photos of beautiful Paris, France as well as pictures of Paris, Hilton. Things are not quite as they should be.
Woody Allen's new film Midnight in Paris comes to theaters in May. You can see the trailer at: www.insidemovies.ew.com.
