Saturday This & That

One the most important pieces of art - for me - is Gerhard Richter's 1963 painting Hirsch (in English know as Deer or sometimes as The Stag). I was excited to read on Horses Think that Corinna Belz has completed a documentary on and with the (typically sparse) participation of Gerhard Richter. You can read more about the film and see the poignant trailer at: www.gerhard-richter-painting.de.

Via Kottke.org I cam across Clifford J. Levy's New York Times Magazine (September 15, 2011) article My Family's Experiment in Extreme Schooling, which I reacted strongly to and ultimately feel very ambivalent about.

I had never seen a rainbow from a plane before. Of course I saw this while flying over the Caribbean Sea ;) The Caribbean are so full of beauty. ©Nina Buesing Corvallo
