Tante Ilse

Tante Ilse passed yesterday.
Tante Ilse had wit, charisma and above all heart.
Tante Ilse was my great-aunt and a big time favorite of mine. I think she was a favorite of everyone, including of my husband's.
Diaspora sucks mostly. When your family -and friends- are spread around the globe you always miss someone or something: a wedding, a birth - a goodbye.
I wanted Tante Ilse to meet my son. They did not meet.
But I know they would have really liked each other.
Tante Ilse, you are in my heart.

K, U & H - I am thinking of you.

Noise

When Babies gte tired, they get cranky. When Babies are cranky it's best to remove all stimulus and settle them to sleep. This really goes for adults too. As we grow we are taught more control. Control to get through that meeting, dinner, flight, etc while we are tired. Many also use caffeine, sugar, etc to help push through tiredness. The downside of control is that we also become less in tune. unaware of ourselves and more accepting.
Sometimes when we need all stimulus removed, we don't even realize it. We might be irritable, in a bad mood and don't even realize why. It can cause real stress. I live in a mixed zone area in New York City. In the past couple of years because of changing economic forces, there has been a great influx of new business in my neighborhood. These commercial ventures have brought bring with them noise pollution. Some of the noise is temporary other noise pollution plays itself out more insidiously.
Noise pollution is a health concern that is mostly overlooked and ignored in this city/country and that needs to change.

Baby Love: Clothes

Clothes for The Baby, below my favorites:

- Self-made stuff. My sister and family friends have been knitting for the boy wonder. Simply the best.
- Kicky Pants. Onesies, PJ, etc made out of mostly Bamboo. Soft, stretchy, thin - great for hot weather and as a layer for cold weather.
- Polarn O. Pyrat. Swedish classic design. Durable, so it can survive many washes AND be passed on! And they know the secret to staying worm: layering. They also make an effort to make their clothes cruelty free.
- Gap. Good for basics - and nautical inspired clothes - always a plus in my book.

Some people have Mal D'Afrique. I feel Mal de Paris. It's been too long.
